Birthday Creating

Today is my birthday.

So if only for today (but hopefully, beginning today),

I’m being more fierce about creating the world I want to be creating.

I start with myself: I woke up, meditated, did a strong, 42 minute walk, had some coffee, sat with the birds, stared at my belly in the mirror and tried to find endless love for it/me, chatted with the kids, played with the dog, and found my breath, over and over.

And now I will move to you.

I am co-creating this world with you. In honor of the date of my birth, the first breath and all of the subsequent ones I’ve been given, in honor of my mother and my father and all of my ancestors, in honor of the power of creation and destruction, I invite you today to take actions that will move us all towards the world in which I want to be living. (And hopefully, you too. But … it’s my birthday.)

I’d like you to do all of these things, today if possible. No cheating.

  • At least 3 times today, take 3 full, deep, expansive breaths. Feel your belly expand and let it rise all the way to your shoulders, then let it ALL go.

  • Drink a tall glass of water. Do it mindfully, with full attention on the water. Be freakin’ grateful that you have this clean water to drink.

  • Tell someone you love them.

  • Now make that someone you.

  • Do something nice for someone else. Leave a comment on Facebook cheering someone one. Give a stranger a sincere compliment. Let someone in in tight traffic. Be creative, but keep it simple.

  • If you are of voting age and live within the United States, do not vote for Trump.

  • Find a scent you love and spend a full 60 seconds repeatedly inhaling its essence.

  • If you are a cussing type of person like me, find a room in your home or a nicely-stuffed pillow to put your face into, take a big inhale, and then scream FUUUUUUUUUUCK until your throat hurts. If you are not a cussing type of person, select your word-of-choice. Every single one of us has got some rage stored within. Let it out and laugh.

  • Select one song from your teenage years that immediately lifts your spirits. Find it on Amazon Music, YouTube, whatever. Put it on and DANCE.

  • Masturbate. (Yeah, good-girl me is blushing and found this REALLY hard to include. But Birthday me found it impossible not to. I'm SICK of living in a world/society where sexuality is so shamed. Start with yourself.)

  • Walk outside for at least 10 minutes - 5 minutes out and 5 minutes back. (If you happen to be in an area unsafe to do so, add this 10 minutes on to your dancing. To those in the areas of the fires, my heart is with you.)

  • Pause RIGHT NOW. Look around. Feel your body. (Really, put your hands on your body. Touch this essence of you.)

  • Choose something you’ve been meaning to do that will require 10 minutes or less of your time, and do it. When you are done, do a little jig or have a piece of chocolate to celebrate.

I could keep going, but the beautiful day outside calls.

I have a day to celebrate, to create. I have a whole new year to celebrate, to create.

There are some things to honor and a whole bunch of things to change.

Let’s get to it, shall we?
